David O’Meara

BACKGROUND
  • David enjoyed a successful career as a jockey, riding for Tim Easterby and then working for a number of years with Sue and Harvey Smith.  He won the Foxhunters at Aintree in 2000 and rode horses such as Turgeonev and Bells Life.
  • David only commenced training in June 2010 but had an amazing first season with 24 winners and a strike rate of 17%.  He built impressively on that this year in 2011 with 48 winners currently, earning many plaudits by revitalising Blue Bajan to be Group 1 placed, Pepper Lane to win 4 races, including the Great St Wilfred and Smarty Socks to win a £50,000 race at Ascot.  He has also won 4 times with Powerful Presence, bought for just £800 and rattled up a hat-trick with another cheap buy, Mont Ras.

  • In 2012 David continued his rapid progress up the training ranks with 66 winners on the flat.
